What’s going on backstage?
Many people wonder what actors do while they’re waiting to go on stage. Do they meditate? Practice lines for the next scene? Spend the entire time getting into an emotional state? Simply go into stasis?
Backstage at the Arvada Center’s production of The Second Tosca, starring Creede Rep’s Diana Dresser and Michael Bouchard, there is a common sight: actors wagering their hard earned money at a game of 5-10 cent poker. Some of us read books or magazines, some of us surf the web, others play cards.
For this group of actors and technicians, very few things are as enjoyable as taking your castmates money in your free time between scenes. Hey, what are friends for?
